ACTIVISM

“The art of DAH Theater is critical, activist, professional and feminist. It raises questions about positions of power. It is against national domination, it is socially engaged, and examines power relations within the public/private at the level of the family, society, and the state.” – Staša Zajović, co-founder of Women in Black, Serbia

Human Rights, Tolerance, Gender Equality

DAH Theater has maintained a lasting line of resistance from 1991 until today. From its very inception, DAH has collaborated with feminist-activist groups (such as Women in Action, or ACT Women), while the organisation Women in Black represents one of its main collaborators in Serbia throughout DAH’s existence. The goal of this cooperation is to resist war, any form of violence, and the culture of denial related to it, all the while fostering the empowerment of women and the building of lasting peace.

Collaboration with feminist-activist organizations

“Unlike the many indifferent artists during the war and their escapism, these artists chose to share the same values with us and get involved in our many activities. ” – Staša Zajović, co-founder of Women in Black, Serbia. [http://zeneucrnom.org/sr/]

Street actions and protests – Theatre plays and a tour of the region with plays – Conferences and meetings – Workshops and conversations with women – Creating a network of women from different women’s organisations

Each of these actions aimed to make women more visible, their voices more audible, strengthening their presence in various positions in our society, but also to help final break off with the denial of crimes committed in our name and thus begin the healing process.
